TOP 10 THINGS TO DO AT BEER INCIDER 2017

TOP 10 THINGS TO DO AT BEER INCIDER 2017

THE Beer InCider Experience is making its first appearance at the Brisbane Showgrounds on 22 & 23 September 2017 with more than 300 beers & ciders, 53 breweries & cideries, 18 food trucks, 9 bands and more you’re going to need two days to explore them all.

Without further ado we give you the top 10 things to do at Beer InCider 2017.

10. Strong Man/Woman
Outdo your friends and put on a show of real strength at our Strong Person Tester Thingy. Yep, grab the hammer, bang the thingo and test your strength! Probably a good thing to do early in your Beer InCider Experience…

9. Tap & Go
We’ve taken a leaf out of Coachella’s book and have partnered with Square. Each brewer, food truck and wine bar will only take payment with a Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card with 'tap & go' functionality. No pesky tokens or Bobs, no lining up for currency and no hassles. It’s simples.

8. Foodie Heaven
We’ve got a mouth-watering line up of burgers, ribs, wings, nachos, pizza, pasta, seafood, donuts, brownies, jerky, cheese and heaps more delish food to try. Again, all this amazing food can be purchased with your card using 'tap & go'.

7. Tim Nelson’s voice
Tim is the lead singer of Cub Sport and his voice is off charts. Following an amazing 2016 in which they hit 24 on Triple J's Hottest 100 for Come On Mess Me Up, Cub Sport are dominating the airwaves again in 2017 with their single O Lord. If you're not across Cub Sport yet, you're in for a treat. This band is incredible.

6. The Garden Bar
The fine folk from 4 Pines Brewing and Brookvale Union are bringing a Garden Bar to Beer InCider this year! Under the famous fig trees at the Brisbane Showgrounds, you’ll be able to pull up a chair and relax. Hot tip: Brookvale Union Ginger Beer is the business and was a crowd-favourite in 2016. This year the team is rumoured to be pouring their sweet sweet Root Beer too!

5. Putt Putt
A firmly established favourite, putt putt makes its highly anticipated debut at our new venue, the Brisbane Showgrounds. Take your friends on and prove once and for all your golfing superiority. With a beer in hand, of course.

4. 300+ brews to sample
We've got more than 50 independent breweries and cider makers pouring more than 300 brews at this year’s event. We kid you not. Whatever your taste, we’re betting you’ll be able to quench your thirst at Beer InCider 2017.

3. Espresso Martini, Prosecco & Wine Bar
Espresso martinis and Prosecco are so hot right now that we're bringing you a dedicated bar! Imagine blissin’ on a picnic rug listening to some amazing tunes, sipping an Aperol Spritz or espresso martini and picking some cheese off a platter. It's a beautiful reality and it's happening this September.

2. Sad Rude Future Brew
There’s nothing sad about Ball Park Music except for the brew they are co-creating with us and Green Beacon. Sad Rude Future Brew will be a juicy resinous-as-heck ale that you can only taste at the festival. Welcome to the future…

1. Our Paddles
It’s not Beer InCider without our paddles. Grab one as you come through the gates and taste your way through the festival. Hint: Don’t use on the ping pong tables unless you’re a gun. Yes - ping pong is back again too!

Want to be a BIC Vollie?

Want to be a BIC Vollie?

We pride ourselves on the fact that our festival is 100% independent and run by a small, dedicated team, which means when it comes to crunch time, we need vollies! We love our vollies (like we love our beer) and without their support, Beer InCider wouldn't be what it is today.

So if you're over 18 years of age, reliable, willing to throw your hand up for any task no matter how big or small, interested in craft beer or events and want some awesome event experience (and a rad shirt!) then we'd love to work with you.

The Nominees - Gold Beery for Best Community Contributor

Gillian Letham - Gill has made a huge contribution to our beer and cider community. Gill is one of the driving forces behind Brewsvegas a not for profit week long beer festival, she is a top contributor to Blood Sweat & Craft Beers each year raising about $8,000 in 2015 & 2016, Gill has just walked 100km and raised $8,000 for Oxfam (and turned up to work at The Mill the next day!) and her venues The Mill and The Oxford Tap House have tapped countless Karma Kegs and hosted numerous charity events. A legendary contribution.

Jimmy Gold & Jared Palu - Jimmy and Jared founded Blood Sweat & Craft Beers to raise funds for charity by participating in the City 2 South each year. In 2016 the team raised almost $40,000 and was the highest fund raising team across the whole event. Since its inception, Blood Sweat & Craft Beers has raised close to $100,000 for charity. Just as significantly, it has created a legion of beer drinking runners and our community has been brought together through running. A mighty achievement from two fantastic individuals.

Mark Howes - Mark's contributions are numerous. Mark (through Newstead Brewing Co) has sponsored a PhD student to research, document and develop some wild yeasts of Brisbane. Mark has made significant contributions to the growth and development of gypsy brewing in Brisbane. Old Newstead is now a second home to Brisbane's gypsy brewing community. Mark's generosity is also continuously demonstrated through fundraising activities for charities. This year Mark generously brewed and donated the entire batch of the Brewsvegas Beer in 2017 - all of which became karma kegs that raised tens of thousands of dollars! A seriously class act from a great contributor who we are lucky to have as part of our community.
