Some beer for Kate

Feb 05 2019

Following the footsteps of beer collaborations from Beer InCiders past including The Smith Street Band x Fixation Brewing's 'The Lee Hartney Experience', The Jungle Giants x Range Brewing's 'Jungle Juice' and Ball Park Music x Green Beacon Brewing's 'Sad Rude Future Brew', comes another banging beer collab starring Australian rock legends Something For Kate and Mornington Peninsula Brewing.

Introducing 'Miracle Cure', an ode to the Aussie band’s song from their 2012 album Leave Your Soul To Science. The song encapsulates the band's view that a cure for the very idea of ‘miracles’ would be more useful in the world today than the continued belief that miracles exist. They are of the view that medical professionals, research scientists and cave divers probably deserve some credit too. As Paul sings in the song, "All I want is a cure for miracles, but all she’s got is a miracle cure".

'Miracle Cure' was modelled off a Rye Indian Pale Ale (IPA) and boasts a fruity aroma and piney, spicy, melon flavours, followed by a distinctive yet refreshingly sharp finish.

Mornington Peninsula Brewery head brewer Kristian Martin said, "Something for Kate really wanted to create a brew that heroes less common ingredients that are sometimes overlooked or misunderstood when it comes to creating a palatable brew. We liked the idea of challenging the norm and blending in some of the real fruity hops like Mosaic with the spicy complex flavours of the rye malt.”

Something For Kate lead vocalist and guitarist Paul Dempsey said he was thrilled to work with the crew at Mornington Peninsula Brewery and to channel their creativity into another passion of theirs, beer.

“It’s not every day you get to put your name to a beer that will cure all of the world’s ills, so it was important that our collaboration with Morning Peninsula Brewery combined characteristics of our favourite flavours to create the ultimate brew,” says Mr Dempsey.
