FAQs

Dates & Venue

Q: When is Beer InCider Experience 2018?
A:
Beer InCider 2018 is held over two days – Friday 21 and Saturday 22 September 2018.

Q: When do tickets go on sale?
A:
Tickets go on sale to our Brewsletter subscribers at 9am on Thursday 7 June 2018. Tickets go on sale to the public at 9am on Sunday 17 June 2018.

Q: Where is the festival?
A:
Beer InCider is held at the Brisbane Showgrounds, Bowen Hills. For easy public transport directions, jump over to the Translink Journey Planner. The entrance to the festival is via Gregory Terrace (opposite Rydges Fortitude Valley). Please note that King Street will be closed to vehicle traffic on Friday 21 September 2018.

Q: What if it rains?
A:
We have a lot of undercover space thanks to a ginormous marquee (you might be familiar with it as the Show Bag Pavilion at the EKKA). Bring a jumper (it can get a bit chilly in the evenings) and get set to whet that thirst and appetite at Beer InCider. If you’re really worried, bring a poncho or raincoat. Sorry, no coat room or lockers.

Tickets

Q: When do tickets go on sale?
A:
Tickets go on sale to our Brewsletter subscribers at 9am on Thursday 7 June 2018. Tickets go on sale to the public at 9am on Sunday 17 June 2018.

Q: How much are tickets?
A:
This year tickets will be sold in releases and there are Friday, Saturday, weekend and group tickets available. Tickets start from $25 each (+BF) for single day group tickets (groups of 7 or more). Weekend & Group tickets are now sold out. Tickets will only be available at the gate if not sold out prior.

Q: Can I get a refund on my ticket or give it to someone else?
A:
Sorry, no refunds but prior to the event you can give your ticket to a mate. They just need to be over 18 and present photo ID at the gate. You cannot give your weekend ticket to another person once your ticket has been scanned at the gate (i.e. you cannot go to the festival on Friday and then give your ticket to a friend for Saturday). For more info on our ticketing policy, see the bottom of the homepage.

Q: I’m bringing a big group of mates. Can I get a discount?
A:
Yeah you can! Round up 7 or more mates and enjoy a nice discount when you pre-purchase group tickets online. Group tickets are sold out and will not be available at the gate, but there will be limited single tickets available (if not sold out prior).

Q: What if I forgot to print my ticket?
A:
No worries. Just show us your ticket on your mobile – we can scan it from there.

Q: Will there be tickets at the gate?
A:
We highly recommend you pre-purchase your ticket online. Why? 1) save money 2) get free public transport to and from the festival (simply show your pre-purchased ticket or festival wristband when boarding any Translink bus or QR City Network train service) and 3) avoid missing out! If the event is sold out, it’s sold out. Limited tickets will only be available at the gate if not sold out prior. Don’t leave it to chance.

Q: What's included in the ticket price?
A:
Excellent question. Deep breath - you get free public entry to and from the festival, entry to our rad festival, a reusable 300ml festival cup, Festival Program with Brew List, live music from some of Australia's best bands, the chance to chat to brewers from more than 60 breweries and access to 300+ beers and ciders including approximately 30 exclusive brews. Phew.

Accommodation

Q: Is there somewhere I can rest my head between festival days?
A:
Yes! Our friends at Rydges Fortitude Valley have a cracking deal just for Beer InCider-goers and best of all, they’re located just metres from the entrance. Check it out here, and don't forget to book a babysitter.

Transport

Q: How do I get to the festival by public transport?
A:
We like the way you think. Free public transport to and from the festival is included with your ticket. Simply show your pre-purchased ticket or festival wristband when boarding any Translink bus or Queensland Rail City Network train service.

Free travel begins four hours before gates open and concludes four hours after the festival closes each day. Not available on Airtrain, CityCat, ferry or tram services.

The Brisbane Showgrounds is super close to numerous public transport options including Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley train stations (a short 10-minute walk away), as well as bus access on surrounding streets. For easy public transport directions check out Translink. Taxi and Uber drop off areas are also accessible. Find out more here.

Q: If I decide to drive, where can I park?
A:
There are 10 separate car parking facilities within the Brisbane Showgrounds and several alternative parking facilities in the area. Please appoint a designated driver and never drink and drive. You can secure your spot online at Valley Metro Car Park to receive $5.00 evening and weekend parking (Friday 21 September - entry from 4pm, and Saturday 22 September - available all day). Find out more here. Please note that King Street will be closed to vehicle traffic on Friday 21 September 2018.

At the Festival

Q: What time do gates open?
A:
On Friday 21 September, gates open 4.30pm and close at 11pm. On Saturday 22 September, gates open 11am and close at 10pm. Last drinks are called 30 minutes prior to gates closing.

Q: Is this a family friendly event?
A:
No sorry. This is an 18+ only event. Babes in arms are welcome. If your child or children can walk, it's a great excuse to book a babysitter!

Q: Do I need to bring an ID or passport?
A:
Every person, no matter how mature, will be asked for valid photo identification. This means a Passport, Drivers Licence or an 18+ card. No exceptions.

Q: Do you have disabled access?
A:
Yes, Brisbane Showgrounds has disabled access and disabled toilets.

Q: Should I bring cash or card?
A:
We’re a cashless event which means bring your Mastercard, Visa or AMEX debit or credit card, with ‘tap & go’ functionality or a chip. It’s ‘tap & go’ powered by Square.

Q: Can I bring a bag?
A:
You can bring a bag however ALL bags will be subject to a bag check upon entry. Leave your bag at home, or if you do bring a bag we recommend it's A4 size or smaller.

Q: Can I bring a picnic blanket?
A:
Absolutely!

Q: Can I bring a fold-up chair?
A:
No sorry. Furniture is not permitted. Bring a picnic blanket instead or sit your tush on the seating provided.

Q: Can I bring my super-duper flashy camera/video gear?
A:
We know you want to capture all the good times had at Beer InCider so pocket cameras and phones are no worries. Professional camera equipment (photography or videography) is not permitted. If you're attending Beer InCider on behalf of the media or are looking to take professional photographs to build your portfolio, please email our marketing team at hello@redstockholm.com.au to discuss alternative access.

Q: Can I bring my own water bottle?
A: You are permitted to bring in new, sealed bottles of water or an empty plastic water bottle to refill for free within the festival. No glass bottles are permitted.

Q: I'm meeting up with friends before I head into the festival. Where should I meet them?
A:
We recommend meeting your mates outside the festival entrance at the Brisbane Showgrounds on Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills. The entrance is opposite Rydges Fortitude Valley and a good spot to meet is next to Ticket Sales.

Q: I hate lining up for toilets at festivals.
A:
So do we! We've got even more toilets than last year (yes, MORE!) including urinals for the gents and toilets with disability access.

Q: Will there be passouts?
A:
Yes! Passouts are available. You will be required to show your wristband for re-entry to the festival so DON’T TAKE IT OFF. No wristband = no entry and no wristbands will be reissued. That includes weekend ticket wristbands.

Q: Can I bring my dog/cat/goldfish?
A:
We love pets but unfortunately Beer InCider is a no-pet zone. Leave them at home with the kids – kidding – with the babysitter of course. Registered assistance or guide dogs are very welcome.

Q: Can I buy merch at the festival?
A:
Yeah you can. Visit the merch tent run by the legends at Thirsty Merchants to purchase merch from our brewers and bands. Think t-shirts, caps, bottle openers, stubby coolers and more. For Beer InCider branded merch including shirts, stubby coolers and tasting paddles, head to the Info Tent. And remember, you can purchase it all with your debit or credit card with ‘tap & go’ powered by Square.

Q: Can I smoke at the festival?
A:
You are only permitted to smoke within the designated smoking areas. Look for the signs. There will be no cigarettes for sale at the festival.

The Beer, The Cider, The Food

Q: Which brewers will be at the festival and what beers/ciders are they bringing?
A:
You can find our list of brewers here. A comprehensive Brew List can be found here and will also be available in our free festival program at the event.

Q: Will there be beverage options for non-beer and cider drinkers?
A:
Indeed! We will have wine, cocktails, alcoholic ginger beer, soft drink and (free) water for the unconverted. Feel free to BYO empty plastic water bottle. Sorry, no glass allowed.

Q: Can I bring food or alcohol into the festival?
A:
No. We've gone to great lengths to secure a fantastic line up of food trucks and brewers who will be serving up some super tasty options just for you including vegetarian and vegan options. We'll be checking bags at the entrance to make sure no food, alcohol, glass or other contraband is brought into the venue. Please BYO empty plastic water bottle and fill it within the festival from our free water fountain.

Q: Will you have vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free food options?
A:
We sure will! The Hellmouth Diner pop-up restaurant caters to vegans and vegetarians and many of our other foodies will offer vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options too. Plus, make sure you get your sugar dose at Gluten Free Donuts!

Q: What sizes do the brews come in?
A:
There will be a 100mL taster, a pot and cans for sale.

Q: Why do you serve the beers and ciders in plastic cups or cans only?
A:
It’s an RSA thing. If you drop plastic, it bounces! Simples. Plus, cans look wicked in our Beer InCider branded stubby coolers, available from the Info Tent.

Q: Can I rub shoulders and enjoy a beer with the brewers?
A:
You certainly can at one of our other rad events, The Beeries, held on Thursday 20 September 2018. It’s the industry’s night of nights where 200 of our closest beery friends get dressed up and celebrate those individuals who contribute to this amazing industry. And you’re invited! Find out more at www.thebeeries.com

Yes! At Beer InCider we're all about sun protection. There is a ginormous marquee at the Brisbane Showgrounds to keep us all sun safe but we do recommend you bring a hat and sunnies, especially on Saturday. There will be free water fountains to fill your plastic water bottle and hats available to purchase if you forget one. Don't forget to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek (shade) and Slide (on your sunnies).

Q: Can I wear my thongs and singlet?
A:
Brisbane Showgrounds requires patrons (that’s you) to be neatly dressed while on site. We’ll be wearing jeans and a flashy tee combo. Don’t forget to bring a jumper as the evenings can get quite chilly, plus a hat and sunglasses. Thongs are A-OK.
